Mr. Adesola Adeduntan, the Chief Executive Officer of First Bank Ltd, has emerged as the most admired bank CEO in Nigeria in a national survey conducted by a Lagos- based national publication, The Top10 Magazine.


The leading Nigerian monthly magazine known for celebrating excellence in various fields of endeavour had recently initiated a contest titled “The Top10 Magazine Most Admired Bank CEO Survey” to pick the most admired bank CEO in Nigeria. The exercise which was conducted through an online survey on The Top10 Magazine website www.thetop10magazine.com.ng provided an opportunity for members of the public to vote for their most admired bank CEO in Nigeria among fifteen nominees made up of distinguished frontline bank CEOs considered as the present most outstanding banking leaders in Nigeria.
After about one month of voting between January and February 2024, Adeduntan came 1st with 2,438 votes, representing 23.1% of total votes of 10,568, cast.
Herbert Wigwe, late chief executive officer of access bank came 2nd with 1,923 votes representing 18.2% while Mr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, chief executive officer of zenith bank plc came 3rd with 1,744 votes representing 16.5%. Tony Opkanachi of Development bank of Nigeria came 4th with 1.353 representing 12.8%, with the remaining percentage of the votes shared among the remaining eleven other nominees with different scores.
According to a statement by the Publisher of The Top10 Magazine, Mr. Tony Iji, “the objective of the initiative is to gauge the public appeal of the respective bank leaders on how they are being perceived by members of the public.
The statement further said that The Top10 Magazine will publish a special edition on the winner, Adesola Adeduntan, to chronicle the variables that endear him to the people as Nigeria’s most admired bank CEO. The magazine also plans to honour him with the award of the most admired bank CEO in Nigeria.
