Mr. Charles Aigbe is the Divisional Head, marketing and Corporate Relations at pan-African financial services group, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc

In his current role, Mr. Aigbe heads a robust communications and brand management team at the UBA Group, overseeing its communication and engagement strategy of the bank with both internal and external stakeholders. His supervisory responsibilities include, brand management, corporate relations and Corporate Social Responsibly (CSR) within the entire UBA Group.

Having been part of the team that rebranded legacy, Standard Trust Bank (STB) and turned it into one of the leading bank brands at the time, Aigbe managed the communication dynamics of the merger between STB and UBA in 2005, leading to the birth of Africa’s global bank with dominant presence on the continent.

Charles Aigbe started his career after graduation, in the investment banking end of the Nigerian Financial Industry, working as a Marketing Officer with defunct Kapital Merchant bank before moving into broadcasting and then back to banking. As a broadcast journalist with DBN Television, he excelled on the capital market beat, jumpstarting the daily electronic news coverage of the Nigerian stock market and reporting live from the trading floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE). He rose through the ranks tobecoming the News Controller/Buisness Editor at DBN Television in year 2000 and left to join Standard Trust Bank as a Media Relations Officer in 2001.

By dint of hard work and excellence, Charles Aigbe soon established himself as a consummate professional, team player and go-getter at STB and rose to the position of Head External Realtions.

Charles Aigbe is a 1991 graduate of the University of Jos. He is also a member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS); qualifying as a stockbroker 16 years ago.

With a career that spans over 2 decades in banking, media, brand management, PR, communications and CSR; 14 of which has been spent in the financial services industry Mr. Aigbe was called into the leadership of the association of communications managers in the industry in 2005 when he was elected as Vice President of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB). He serves also on the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the UBA Professional Chair of Fiance at the University of Lagos and is member of the Advisory Board of the acclaimed Daily Trust Africa of the Year Award.

Married to Ifeoma Aigbe and together they have 2 sons. Charles is widely travelled and has attended several trainings both locally and internationally. He is a sports enthusiast who loves and plays soccer. He was a former Captain of the UBA Lions Football Club; the 4 time winner of the Nigerian Banks Games soccer trophy. He is currently the Team Coordinator and because of his contributions on and off the field to the games, he was inducted to prestigious Hall of Fame for the Nigerian Bankers Games.
