Dr. Mark Akhabue is an astute entrepreneur, seasoned resource manager, administrator, and philanthropist with a heart for the development of talents and the growth of the Nigerian economy. He is the Managing Director of Jendol Superstores, a fast-growing retail brand operating eight (8) grocery stores across Lagos; and Jendol Petroleum, a downstream Oil and Gas company with filling stations in Lagos, Nigeria.
He began his career in the year 2000 as Finance Manager at Rail Ad Limited. In 2005, he joined Virgin Nigeria Airlines and rose through the ranks to the office of Head, Treasury. As the Head of Treasury, he initiated and implemented effective cost management strategies that helped Virgin Airlines achieve 5% MoM reduction in aircraft maintenance costs. He joined Advantium Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited as Group Head, Finance and Admin in 2009. He contributed significantly to lowering tax and administrative costs by 14% and helped raise $170,000 (N110million) through his business development efforts. In 2012, he joined Hygiea Nigeria Limited (Lagoon Hospital) as Chief Accountant, rising to become the Financial Controller where he led treasury and investment management to deliver satisfaction to investors.
Dr. Mark Akhabue’s multisector experience has significant influence on his business interests in Retail, Petroleum Downstream and Bureau De Change. When he disengaged from full time employment in 2016, he dedicated his time to oversee Jendol Petroleum, and to start Jendol Superstores which has now grown into eight grocery stores with a regional expansion plan to launch 20 new stores over the next five years across Southern Nigeria. Over the last 6 years to date, Jendol Superstores has grown its capital/Assets base to over 5,000% from its initial startup capital of about N62m in value, from startup work force of 26 employees to over 950 employees and operating all eight grocery stores on a cumulative land size of approximately 25,000 sqm.

Dr. Akhabue’s entrepreneurial acumen has had significant impact on the growth of Jendol Superstores current staff size of 950 and this is expected to be over 1100 employees with the opening of the newest branch in Ogun state December 2022. Staff strength is projected to grow to over 5,000 in the next 10years of planned expansion.
Dr. Akhabue also sits on the board of several organizations, and volunteers as a Trustee at Communion of Kindness Foundation. He is Co-founder of Mark & Kemi Foundation, a nonprofit organization that improves the lives of people and communities. He served as Director, Public Relations, Edo State University Accounting Class of 1997 Alumni. He is a member of Lagos Country Club and a serving deacon in The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), playing a critical role in her Global Mandate as Board Member, TREM Global Vision Investments Limited.
He also sits on the board of Floodgates Insurance Brokers Nigeria Limited. Kema Travels Nigeria Limited and Keose Ventures Nigeria Limited.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Ambrose Alli University (formerly Edo State University), and an MBA from University of Calabar. He was conferred with an honorary doctorate by the European-American University, Commonwealth of Dominica in 2020.
He is an FCA Fellow, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria; Associate of Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria; Fellow, Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management & Policies, Ghana; and Fellow, Institute of Chartered Administrators and Researchers of Nigeria.
Dr. Akhabue is married to Mrs Oluwakemi Akhabue and they are blessed with beautiful children.
