The Top10 Magazine Excellence Awards 2021: Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun – Philanthropist of the year

Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, the man being honoured with the prestigious award of Philanthropist of the Year 2021, is a businessman of repute and Chairman of IBD Group, with interests in several sectors, including hospitality, Clearing and Forwarding, Automobiles and Real Estate. With his enormous success in business, Egungbohun has demonstrated truth in the wise saying that success comes through dint of hard work.

Alhaji Egungbohun has demonstrated success not only in business; he has proved to be a man with a heart of gold by using his success to impact positively on the lives of others in many ways. He is not just a successful businessman; he is also a philanthropist whose involvement in charity is outstanding.

For many years, the Ibrahim Dende Foundation (IBD Foundation), his brainchild, has been involved in activities that are designed to eradicate poverty in Yewa community in Ogun State, through offer of scholarships to indigent students of the area and empowerment programmes that are aimed to alleviating poverty. For instance, three indigent students of Obanla Adeola; one primary 6 student of Muslim School, Oja-Odan, Adegoke Michael, as well as one primary 5 student of Deuteronomy Academy, Ilaro, have the scholarship of IBD Foundation to enable them to obtain secondary education. These are just but few instances of those currently benefiting from the scholarship programme of the foundation.

The foundation has extended its philanthropic gestures to communities and towns within the Ilaro and Oja-Odan axis of Ogun State.

During the period of the lockdown that was forced by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the IBD Foundation, under the leadership of Omolara Dende, wife of the Chairman, was actively involved in the distribution of palliatives to ameliorate the hardship many Nigerians experienced as a result of the lockdown. The organization donated 200 bags of rice and 70 jerry cans of vegetable oil to communities in the Ilaro and Oja-Odan axis. The IBD Foundation involved religious bodies in the communities to ensure the exercise achieved its purpose.

Alhaji Egungbohun has contributed materially to the growth and success of music superstars like Pasuma, Olamide, Phyno, Lil Kesh and Small Doctor.

In recognition of his outstanding philanthropic gestures, Alhaji Ibrahim Dende Egungbohun, Chairman, IBD Group is honoured with the award of the Philanthropist of the Year by The Top10 Magazine.
