Paul Eberechukwu Ngwu completed his basic medical education in Abia State University in 2006 and then proceeded to serve the nation (NYSC) in 2007. He had his junior residency training in surgery between 2009-2012 at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Abia State. His Senior residency training in surgery was between 2012-2017 which took him to various parts of Nigeria and beyond including a training in Endo-Urology at All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Dellhi towards the end of his residency training as well as a short experience in Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Urology at Coventry United Kingdom.
Dr Paul Ngwu has been practicing Endo-Urology right from 2017 when he was appointed Consultant Urologist at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia. In 2020 he Co-Founded Eleos Specialist Hospital a centre for Urologic and other Minimally Invasive Surgeries in Umuahia, Abia State. He is also a member of the board of Directors of the Intellectual Giants Group of Schools with multiple branches in Abia and Rivers State Nigeria.
In 2021 Dr Paul Ngwu developed interest in laparoscopic surgeries and has attended various trainings both within and outside the shores of the country. He also obtained a Fellowship in laparoscopic/Minimal access surgeries from Florida United States of America.
He has had various achievements in the field of surgery. He Pioneered Supine Purcutaneous Nephro lithotomy in Nigeria in 2022 and also Pioneered Bipolar Enucleation of the prostate in Nigeria in 2023 amongst other achievements.
Dr Paul Ngwu is currently a Senior Lecturer in the College of Medicine Gregory University Uturu, as well as a Consultant Urologist/Laparoscopic surgeon and Head Department of Surgery, Federal Medical Centre Umuahia, Abia State, Nigeria.
