Amb. Hussaini Haruna Coomassie, International Peace Commission Ambassador in Nigeria

Ambassador Hussaini Coomassie, a diplomat, an advocate for social justice, immigration expert, human rights activist, security analyst, renowned politician, and public servant, is an international peace envoy of the first order. He has been involved in virtually every organization that seeks peace anywhere across the globe. He is the International Peace Commission (IPC) Ambassador in Nigeria and Global Vice Chairman, International Commission for Peace and Good Governance (Africa).


The letter appointing him as IPC Ambassador in Nigeria attests to Amb. Coomassie’s pedigree in global peace building credentials. The global chairman of the International Peace Commission (IPC), Prince Amir Hassan, who signed the letter in March 2023 at the IPC World Secretariat in the United States of America, said Doctor Coomassie brought a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role, having trained and worked extensively in the field of peace and conflict resolution.
As IPC Ambassador in Nigeria, Coomassie who is widely respected in Nigeria and beyond for his dedication and commitment to service in promoting peace and stability wherever he goes, is responsible for leading the IPC’s efforts in the country. He works closely with government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to promote peace, sustainable development, reconciliation, and conflict resolution. He is also responsible for strengthening the IPC’s partnerships and collaborations in Nigeria and across the West African sub-region.

The IPC is a well-recognised global Civil Society Organisation with diplomatic status that strives to advance peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution across the globe. The Commission works towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the United Nations.
With a vast network of specialists and collaborators, the IPC endeavours to tackle some of the most pressing peace and security challenges facing the world today. It was established to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), which was adopted by the United Nations on December 10, 1948.
Amb. Coomassie is also currently the continental Director-General, Advocacy for Good Governance & Social Juustice (AGGSJ), with offices around the world. He is also the Global Vice Chairman (Africa), International Commission for Peace and Good Governance, Chairman, Leadership Scorecard Advisory Board, and Vice Chairman Musharak Esteem Nig. Ltd. He was the Deputy National Coordinator (North & Diaspora), Buhari Campaign Organization (North & Diaspora); Managing Director, Little Turkey Investment; Board Member, J.A.N Foundation UK; and Chairman BoT., Presidential Support Initiatives.
Born on August 8, 1962, in the ancient city of Kano state, Amb. Coomassie is a native of Kusada in Katsina State. He studied within and outside Nigeria and served the Nigeria Immigration Service between 1987-2010. He was appointed Ambassador for Peace, Social Justice and Humanitarian Service in 2014 and joined active politics in 2015. He is a member of the famous Canada Nigeria Community Development Association (CANCODA); and member, Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).
He is also the Founder and Co-Founder of several associations, including, Nigeria 1st Progressive initiatives, Diaspora Stakeholders/Diaspora Parliament; Nigeria Turkey Business Round Table; and Association of Good Governance Network, Vienna-Austria etc.

In 2007, he was honoured by the Polish Border Guards with the Award of Recognition on Inter-Agency Relations, Warsaw-Poland; Turkish Defence Services Medal, 2013; President Erdogan Award of Excellence, 2016; Northern Nigeria Peace Builder of the year, 2015; Leadership Scorecard Youth Icon of the year, 2016; Who is Who Awards, Nigeria, 2019; Leaders without Borders Award UAE 2020; and many others.
Amb. Coomassie is among the selected personalities globally decorated with Fellow, Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership, USA, Fellow, Institute of Management Security UK, Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration, Nigeria and Commander, Global Peace & Conflict Resolution, Canada. He was also shortlisted among 1000 Most Influential People in the world by the UN in 2021.
